About the Event

Dr. Tara White is a history professor and former chair of the Arts & Humanities Department for Wallace Community College in Selma, Alabama. Her research areas include public history, Southern history, civil rights history, African American history, and women’s history. She also has professional experience in museums, historic sites, and archives. Brenda Tindal is an awarding-winning educator, scholar, and museum practitioner. Prior to joining the International African American Museum (IAAM) as Director of Education & Engagement in July 2018, Tindale served as the Director of Education at the Detroit Historical Society, where she oversaw the K-16 education initiatives, public programming and provided organizational leadership in the areas of museum visitor experience and strategic engagement. In 2015, Tindal became the first woman and African American to serve as the Staff Historian and Senior Vice-President of Research and Collections at Levine Museum of the New South.
